Regulatory Information

Reclaimed Energy is a Part B permitted Hazardous Waste Management Facility. RECI began operation in 1980 and obtained interim status thereafter. The first Part B Management Permit was issued in 1990. Subsequent renewals have been obtained through the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) in 1996, 2002, and 2007. The Management Permit includes requirements of all aspects of facility operation with regard to hazardous waste management.

Due to our status as a TSD, the RCRA TSD Air rules apply to the facility. These rules apply to equipment leaks for valves, pumps, and flanges, as well as overall facility emissions.

RECI also operates under a Title V Air Operating Permit, which was issued by IDEM in 2001. The permit renewal application was submitted Fall 2005. The Title V Permit covers the operation of all of our distillation equipment, as well as our Catalytic Thermal Oxidizer used to control emissions.

Through Connersville's city ordinance, RECI is required to operate under an Industrial Wastewater Discharge Permit. This permit is issued and monitored by Connersville Utilities, the operators of the local POTW. This permit covers our boiler blowdown, cooling water discharge, non contact cooling water, and sanitary discharge.
